Elaine Breiger’s work has appeared widely: in solo shows at the Pace and Martha Jackson Galleries, NYC; the Contemporary Gallery, Dallas, TX; the Source Gallery, San Francisco, CA. and elsewhere, and in group exhibitions at the Library of Congress, the Smithsonian Institution, the Brooklyn Museum, Italy's Premio Internazionale Biella per L'Incisione and other venues. She is represented in many collections, including the Brooklyn Museum, Library of Congress, New York Public Library, Lessing Rosenwald, Container Corporation of America's "Great Ideas of Western Man" and others.
In her own words: “I love teaching the etching process - from basic techniques to the experimental. I see printmaking as a fluid process, and while I work closely with students who want to master the traditional forms, I encourage them to think about materials and surfaces in adventurous ways. In that spirit, they have made prints on surfaces as varied as muslin, packaging material, and even, once, a shower curtain. When I am not teaching art or making my own work, I love to run and have completed 27 marathons, including Boston.”
